Deep in the bowels of Dark Souls III, you'll find Yhorm the Giant, 'the reclusive lord of the Profaned Capital.'
Compared to your last boss fight with the Pontiff, this one is going to be a cake walk. That being said, a cake walk in Dark Souls always has the chance to just squash you like a bug if you get unlucky or just roll the left instead of right. Spoilers ahead.
Step one)Grab the Storm Ruler weapon. Yhorm is weak against lightning attacks, and conveniently, there is a lightning weapon sitting ready for you right by his throne. Make a bee line for it and grab and equip it as quickly as possible, it is going to make this fight a lot easier. Step two)Aim for the head or chest. You can hit him anywhere, but you aren't going to do much hitting him in the legs. The chest or the head is where you are going to deal your damage, so you'll have to somehow hit high enough to do some damage. That's where this Storm Ruler sword comes in. When you ready yourself in the stance it will charge the sword and you can strike out with a ranged lightning strike. Step 3)Keep dodging and charging the sword to strike when you can. It only takes a couple of charged lightning strikes to finish the boss off, you just need to stay back from him and dodge his attacks while you charge the sword and then unleash the storm on him. The only real trick here is to know when to charge your sword. You'll have to put some distance between you, and start the charge just after he has swung at you, that should give you enough time. If he does catch you in a swing, fall back and heal as quickly as you can, considering how much damage the Storm Ruler shots do to him, you should be able to outlast him even if he does catch you a couple of times.
When you first go up against the boss you, you might notice that your weapon does almost no damage whatsoever to the hulking Lord of Cinder, whereas his mighty slashes will bring you low in just a couple of hits.

Don't dismay! This is actually one of the easier boss fights in the game. There are basically two viable strategies when it comes to Yhorm.
Strategy One: Siegward of Catarina
The Onion Knight of Dark Souls III can pretty much beat Yhorm all on his own. If you've followed Siegward of Catarina's story through to completion, he'll simply show up in the fight and it's as good as over.
Strategy Two: The Storm Ruler
If you haven't kept up with Siegward's quest---the quests in Dark Souls III are certainly opaque---don't worry! Laying next to Yhorm's throne is a greatsword, Storm Ruler. It has a special Skill that charges it with the power of storm, and can take down Yhorm in five hits, give or take. Just remember, the giant Lord still hits hard, even with Storm Ruler in hand.
Here's me taking the big guy down:

More like Lord of Newbs, amirite? Ha ha ha (help me).
Your first try at this battle is a bit unfair, because the key to success is locked inside the arena: the sword Storm Ruler is sitting right by Yhorm’s throne.
This sword has a unique weapon art. Hold down the left trigger and it will be embued with the power of the storm; if you hold it long enough for the storm to take – there’s an audio and visual cue – and then attack while in left trigger stance, you can unleash a devastating blow. You can charge this attack up and wait for the right moment to enter the stance and unleash it.

This works everywhere (indeed, if you haven’t yet felled the Rotted Greatwood, you’ll love this sword), but only in the Yhorm fight is it this magnificent. Wait for Yhorm to attack and hit him with Storm Ruler during his recovery phase for whopping damage.
Although his attacks are slow and reaonably easy to dodge, Yhorm has significant reach and closes the distance to you quickly, so don’t ever let your guard down. His second phase is somewhat more deadly.
Make sure you bring some Ashen Estus so you can refill your FP if necessary, and keep your sword charged at all times. The arena is large enough that you can get plenty of distance between you in order to cue up your attack between exchanges.

This battle is, of course, much easier with two or more players, and you’ll find a stack of summon signs outside the door. Look for players who already have Storm Ruler; it has a distinctive curved guard on the pommel.
Additionally, if you have completed Siegward of Catarina’s quest so far, he’ll join you. This really, really helps, and although Siegward can die here, the only negative consequence is the loss of a little dialogue and the knowledge that you were responsible.
Activate the Yhorm the Giant bonfire, and chat with Siegward to exhaust his dialogue and receive some more Siebrau. If you travel away from this area and come back, you can collect his shield, armour and another Storm Ruler. If he dies, you’ll get everything but the second Storm Ruler from his corpse after the battle.

When you beat Yhorm you’ll receive the Cinders of a Lord and the Soul of Yhorm the Giant.
Well! Two Lords of Cinder down. Now we can finally go where you’ve all been dying to visit. When you’ve finished shopping, chatting and recovering, meet us at the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire.
CHECKLIST: BEFORE ENTERING IRITHYLL DUNGEON
Avast stuck on performance issues today. Irithyll Dungeon lies a short walk beyond the Distant Manor bonfire, which you'll find at the far end of the lake running beneath Irithyll bridge. Do not proceed passed this bonfire until you've completed the following steps.
1. Send Greirat on his second scavenger hunt
Speak with Greirat again at Firelink Shrine and permit him to go on second scavenging trip. Once he leaves the shrine, he'll make his way to Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, where he'll die if neither the Patches or Siegward quests have been successfully progressed. If you've followed the steps in this guide, however, and returned the Catarina armour to Siegward at the Cleansing Chapel, things should proceed as required. That said, there appears to be a time limit for completing this portion of the quest. Loiter too long in Irithyll and Greirat may die anyway.
2. Speak with Siegward at the Distant Manor in Irithyll
Warp to the Distant Manor bonfire in Irithyll and battle through the spider-woman-filled sewers at the edge of the nearby lake. Climb the steps to the rear of the area and speak with Siegward in the kitchen to receive the Emit Force miracle and progress his and Greirat's quest lines. Greirat will have returned to Firelink Shrine next time you visit. Note that Siegward will not be available for the fight against Yhorm if you miss him in Irithyll.
If something goes awry and Siegward doesn't appear in the kitchen, it's also possible to rescue Greirat by speaking with Unbreakable Patches at Firelink Shrine. Space shooter games pc. Once Greirat has left the shrine, tell Patches where he went and he'll leave to rescue his friend. Both men will return to the shrine when you next warp into the area.

3. Send Greirat of the Undead Settlement on his third scavenging trip
When Greirat has safely returned, speak with him again and permit him to scavenge at Lothric Castle. This time, his death is unavoidable and you'll eventually find his corpse on the roof of the Grand Archives. You can give his ashes to the Handmaiden at Firelink Shrine and she'll begin to sell Greirat's wares and lower several of her own prices.
CHECKLIST: BEFORE DEFEATING YHORM THE GIANT BOSS
To battle Yhorm the Giant, you'll first need to navigate the terrifying Irithyll Dungeon and reach the Profaned Capital far below. Yhorm the Giant awaits in the central chamber of a vast, crumbling ruin guarded by gargoyles and dagger-wielding priestesses. Before taking on the mighty giant, ensure that you've completed the following steps.
1. Rescue Siegward from the depths of Irithyll Dungeon
Retrieve the Old Cell Key from the Irithyll Dungeon (you'll find it at the end of the long, sewer-like tunnel accessible from the middle level of the imprisoned giant's chamber) then warp to the Profaned Capital bonfire.
Descend the ladder in the centre of the tower to reach the floor below, pass through the hole in the crumbling wall and take a left. Follow the path forward (ignoring the attacking gargoyle) until you enter the building to the right. Wind back and forth to reach the far end of the corridor without falling down the holes then drop into the poisonous swamp at the end.
Cross the swamp, scale the incline in the corner leading up to the building, and climb the ladder. Work your way along the ledge to the left and continue forward until you reach the building's roof. Take a right onto the rooftop and approach the right-hand corner. Look right again and you'll see a hole in the cavern wall. Run and jump over into the hole and climb the steps on the other side. Continue forward to reach Siegward's cell and use the key to free him.
You'll receive a valuable Titanite Slab for rescuing him (and there's a Covetous Gold Serpent Ring in his cell too), and Siegward will now accompany you during the Yhorm boss fight. Unlike most boss fights, however, you don't need to summon Siegward first. Instead, he'll join the battle automatically, triggering a special cutscene when the fight begins.
If Siegward dies during the battle, return to the boss chamber once Yhorm is dead to retrieve his Zweihander, Storm Ruler, Pierce Shield and Catarina Set. If he's still alive after the battle, he'll either toast the end of his quest (in which case, returning to the area will allow you to retrieve his gear) or, if he lost too much health during the fight, he'll die, leaving his gear on the spot.
2. Rescue Karla from the depths of Irithyll Dungeon
Karla can be found in a cell at the bottom of Irithyll Dungeon, close to the entrance to the Profaned Capital. To unlock the cell, however, you'll first need to secure the Jailer's Key Ring. Happily, this can be found close to the area where you liberate Siegward from his prison, meaning its wise to grab the key at the same time. To find the key, you'll need to cross the spider-lady-filled swamp and climb the ladder to reach the top of the building that leads to Siegward's cell. Instead of hopping through the hole in the wall, however, follow the stone steps up and into the small corridor overlooking the giant's holding room. You'll find the Jailer's Key Ring at the far end of the passage.
Dark Souls 3 Storm Ruler Good
Next, return to the Profaned Capital bonfire and use the ladder to descend the tower exterior. Cross the long walkway and follow the path back into Irithyll Dungeon. Take a left almost immediately as you enter the room and stick close to the left-hand wall in order to avoid the roaming jailers. A short way on, you'll encounter a single jailer along a narrow passage and, a little further still, you'll find a locked door to the left. Use the key on the door, step inside and speak with Karla in the corner of the room. Accept her services and she'll warp to Firelink Shrine. You can find her in an alcove almost directly below Blacksmith Andre, and she'll happily teach you dark pyromancy, as well as dark miracles if you have the necessary tomes.
Continue to the list of things to do before facing Pontiff Sulyvahn and Aldrich the Devourer.
